Biometric passports for people - this is reality. Why not make the same passport for breeds of guppy?
I think it is important the use of passports in various competitions and guppy's exhibitions - hybrids (not homozigous fishes) will be immediately detected and the reference phenotype winners will be confirmed by molecular genetic and proteins analysis. Guppybreeders able to do such analysis for their fish and get the correct document, confirming the purity of his breed or selection line. Also you can check the fish came from other regions and countries (with an unknown pedigree too). Guppybreeders can send the fish (of course no longer live fish, for example, older males and females) in a special transport medium (to make it not so difficult) from any citues abnd countries.
Methods of compliance with the analysis already developed for guppi - both at the protein level, and at the level of DNA.
Why not put it into practice?
